A MAN found guilty of three counts of writing anti-Semitic graffiti on bus stops in Stamford Hill has escaped with a community order by way of punishment.
Antonio Santos, 61, of Cruikshank Street, Islington, admitted three counts of racially aggravated criminal damage. He was sentenced last month when he appeared at Thames Magistrates Court. The community order requires him to do 80 hours of unpaid work over a twelve month period. The order also carried a rehabilitation requirement.
The charges arose out of an incident on 18th December last year, when police officers saw Santos writing on a bus stop in Stamford Hill. They found that he was writing anti-Semitic graffiti. Further instances of the same graffiti were found on nearby bus stops.
